FAQ
What if I’ve already had shingles?
You can still benefit from the vaccine to reduce the risk of future episodes. Speak to our team for personalised advice.
How long does the shingles vaccine last?
The shingles vaccine offers long-term protection, though the exact duration varies by individual.
Why should I get the shingles vaccine?
Shingles can cause severe pain and long-term complications. The vaccine reduces your risk of developing shingles and its associated symptoms.
Are there any side effects of the flu vaccine?
Most people experience mild side effects, such as soreness at the injection site or a low-grade fever, which resolve quickly.
When should I get the flu vaccine?
Flu vaccines are most effective when given in October or November, ahead of the peak flu season in December. However, if it is later than that, it is still worth having it as it will help protect you from around 14 days after vaccination.
Why should I get the flu vaccine?
The vaccine helps protect you from flu, reducing the risk of illness and preventing the spread of infection to others.
How far in advance should I book travel vaccines?
Ideally, book at least 6-8 weeks before your trip, as some vaccines require multiple doses over a period of time. If you're travelling sooner than that, please still book as it is better to have some protection than none, and some vaccine courses can be delivered to an accelerated schedule if appropriate.
Can I have travel vaccines if I’m pregnant?
Certain vaccines may not be suitable during pregnancy. Please let us know before your appointment so we can advise accordingly.
Do I need travel vaccinations?
It depends on your destination and planned activities. Our travel health experts will advise on the recommended vaccines during your consultation. You can find out which vaccines are recommended for each country at: https://travelhealthpro.org.uk/countries
